Let’s take this show on the road! It’s exciting to see a plan come to life.
If you help enough people, you’re bound to reap some rewards for your work. – Denise Reed
Own the room, own your life
Have you wondered how to overcome the fear of speaking? You are not alone! The fear of speaking is the #1 fear in the world. It helps to have a group of speaking encouragers to cheer for you. I became a member of Toastmasters International Wordspinners club in Chattanooga, TN. I joined in February 2015. I was forced to practice public speaking when I needed to share my business with people. I wanted to challenge myself to become a better speaker, too. I began to speak publicly and share how we serve business professionals at The Concierge Office Suites in 2006. I also hosted and led Idea Factory, Jelly! Chattanooga events coaching small groups of people on how to use social media for business beginning February 2009. I couldn’t keep all this emerging knowledge to myself. I love sharing information that will help you become a better business leader. Toastmasters International is a huge help in leadership development, speaking confidence building, and content creation. As of April 28, 2018, I will be speaking at the Toastmasters International District 63 Spring Conference for a breakout session! I’ll be sharing “Mindset is Everything!”
Be passionate
I’ve always been passionate about helping women in business, speaking was a part of this. I stepped to the plate by serving on various association boards around Chattanooga. You’ve got to be brave and stand in front of the room for things you’re passionate about in life. Because of my active participation in various board positions, I was asked to lead them. The founder, Deborah Levine, of Lean In WomenGroundBreakers saw I was leading various groups around Chattanooga and asked if I would be interested in taking the lead for this group. I said, “Yes!” I leaned in taking my cue from Sheryl Sandberg, who wrote the book and founded the Lean In movement.
Make a positive difference
You can’t sit back and let life happen to you! Stand up and make a positive difference. If you aren’t a positive change agent, who will be? This whole life path I’ve been on has been about creating. I’m in constant creative pursuit of living a vivacious life. Living for me is about creating and seeking opportunity, while not only benefitting myself but others also. I crave the chance to experience something wonderful, something fulfilling, something vivacious. This doesn’t mean my life is all roses and chocolate. It means I am in control of how I want to experience the world around me. I am in control of my perspective, and I’m not going to turn it over to someone else because they are having a bad day. I’ve realized just how super important a positive mindset habit is. If we can imagine something, we can create it. Build awareness around your potential opportunities. Be out there sharing what you know by helping others succeed. With imagination, persistence and a plan, you can create an amazing life. It’s possible!
Are you ready to change the world as you know it? Are you prepared to face your number one fear? Do you believe you can change your world? Are you ready to make a positive difference? It all begins with your mindset and your pursuit of it’s possible!
